The Inaugural SummerFest will take place on Saturday, May 21, 2022, in downtown Henderson, Kentucky. Activities begin at 5:00 pm CDT at the intersection of Water and 2nd Streets and include a beer garden, vendor booths, activities for kids, and numerous local dining options. A FREE concert featuring PARADISE KITTY, Lindsey James Williams, and Annabel Whitledge, begins at 7:00 pm CDT. Additionally, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson Superhero 5K Run and Walk will begin at 5:00 pm CDT at Redbanks Park, located at 6th Street and Merritt Drive.

Although there is no admission fee to attend, the mission of SummerFest is to raise awareness for local charities through entertainment events and bring together the community to support those charities. This year’s event will primarily benefit three (3) local charities: Audubon Kids Zone, Healing Reins of Kentucky, and The Chloe Randolph Organization. Attendees and supporters are encouraged to donate via the link above. All proceeds and donations will directly benefit these organizations.

SummerFest is the vision of three friends and residents of Henderson, Kentucky: Jonathan Dixon, Brian Bishop, and Greg “Moon” Mullins. The group started working together about four years ago, establishing the annual Henderson Wiffleball Classic. The group recently formed the Sons of Henderson, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing local events that benefit local charities. SummerFest is the culmination of several years of work and planning.

Jonathan Dixon stated, “We have sponsored several different area concerts in the past few years. I always thought about being a part of a big concert/festival in Henderson to raise money for charity. Brian Bishop has a proven track record with concerts and events in Henderson. Greg Mullins brings ties to the local downtown businesses and entertainment ideas to the group. It was just a matter of time before we started talking about the idea and SummerFest was born.”

Brian Bishop said, “One of our goals is to bring different music genres to the downtown area. This year we plan to rock out. This first year is about establishing SummerFest with an exciting inaugural event, and then building on that success for years to come.”

Dixon added, “Our hope is to provide the benefiting charities the opportunity to reach more individuals, to share their cause and story, through the conduit of bringing an exceptional entertainment experience to the Henderson downtown area.”

Greg Mullins added, “Support from our community sponsors for our events has always been amazing. We appreciate everyone who has helped support our first charity event and hope that they will also get behind SummerFest to help us raise funds to benefit the local charities.”

Bishop added, “We encourage folks to come downtown early. Activities begin at 5:00 pm. We’ll have face-painting and other activities for the kiddos, a beer garden for the adults, food trucks, the Boys & Girls Club of Henderson Superhero 5K, and more. Local businesses will also be open and benefit from the close proximity to the festival area and stage. It’s going to be a great day in Henderson.”

Dixon summarized, “The FREE concert with PARADISE KITTY, Lindsey James Williams, and Annabel, Whitledge, starts at 7:00 pm. Attendees will have a good time, rock out, and have the opportunity to give a little back to organizations that help so many. Please join us in downtown Henderson, Kentucky for the Inaugural SummerFest."
